THE ODD COUPLE Meets THE GOLDEN GIRLS in Penobscot's RIPCORD

How far would you go to win the bed by the window? For rival roommates at the Bristol Place Senior Living Facility, the sky's the limit. Penobscot Theatre Company presents Pulitzer Prize winning playwright David Lindsay-Abaire's comic drama, Ripcord, running March 14 - 31st at Bangor's historic Opera House. Tickets are on sale now.

Abby has lived a solitary life in her top-floor room at Bristol Place. Her abrasive personality makes sure that every roommate assigned to her leaves within the first month, which is just how she likes it. But Marilyn will be a tougher nut to crack. She's optimistic, happy and unaffected by Abby's attitude. Determined to gain control and win her personal space back, Abby turns up the heat by proposing a bet between the ladies that proves you're never too old to learn new tricks.

"The laughs in Ripcord are matched only by its substantial amount of heart," says Producing Artistic Director, Bari Newport who is also directing the production. "The underbelly of this play is truly moving. It has a great message: Live life to the fullest every day! Take the leap!"

Playing Abby, is television/stage veteran Danielle Kennedy who returns to the Penobscot Theatre Company stage. She last appeared in Penobscot Theatre Company's 2015 production of August: Osage County, as Violet. Her television appearances include American Horror Story, Narcos and Parks and Recreation.

As Marilyn, Sara Morsey makes her Penobscot Theatre Company stage debut. Ms. Morsey, a Florida resident, is a longtime company member of The Hippodrome Theatre in Gainesville, FL and a member of Florida Repertory Theatre's acting ensemble.

Kennedy and Morsey are supported by the comedic talents of audience favorites Allen Adams (The Graduate), Brad LaBree (Wait Until Dark), Ben Layman (Elf: The Musical) and Jen Shepard (Elf: The Musical).

Scenic design for Ripcord is by Vancouver-based Patrick Rizzotti, lighting design is by Chicago-based Jess Fialko (Honky Tonk Angels) and costumes are by Penobscot Theatre Company resident designer, Kevin Koski (Wait Until Dark). Resident sound designer, Sean McGinley (Honky Tonk Laundry) and Belinda Hobbs (Wait Until Dark) as props designer, round out the design team for this production.

Ripcord is made possible through the generous sponsorship of Farrell, Rosenblatt & Russell and Dirigo Pines. It is produced in collaboration with the Maine Science Festival where a panel discussion on "Science in Aging" will be offered on March 16th. Additionally a talk-back at the theatre after the matinee on March 17th will feature experts in the field of "gerontology and living well".

Ticket prices range from $28-$39. Discounts available for students, seniors, military and educators. Group rates available for groups of 8+. Tickets may be purchased by phone (207-942-3333), on-line at www.penobscottheatre.org
