Robert Haas to Serve as Special Guest Poet at PALM BEACH POETRY FESTIVAL, 1/18/16

By: Aug. 07, 2015

(Delray Beach, FL - August 6, 2015) Susan R. Williamson, Director of the Palm Beach Poetry Festival (PBPF), today announced that the 12th annual festival is returning to the Delray Beach Center for the Arts at Old School Square for six days, January 18-23, 2016. Special Guest Poet at the next Palm Beach Poetry Festival will be Robert Hass, former United States Poet Laureate (1995-1997) and 2008 Pulitzer Prize winner.

In addition to Mr. Hass and the eight distinguished poets who will be leading workshops at the Festival (Laure-Anne Bosselaar, Carl Dennis, Denise Duhamel, Carol Frost, Thomas Lux, Tom Sleigh, Mary Szybist and Kevin Young), five additional nationally acclaimed poets will also be featured: coffeehouse performance poets Dominique Christina and Marc Kelly Smith, and returning individual conference poets Sally Bliumis-Dunn, Nickole Brown and Ginger Murchison.

"Fourteen of America's most engaging and gifted poets are coming to Delray Beach to share their love of poetry and the written word," said Ms. Williamson. "In addition to serving the writing community through our professional workshops, the Palm Beach Poetry Festival will once again offer numerous opportunities for the public to hear truly great poetry written by some of our nation's finest and most engaging poets. Once again, the Festival is presenting a very diverse group of poets, ethnically, demographically and aesthetically, but what they all have in common is extraordinary insight and the ability to express it so beautifully."
