Riverside Theatre to Stage Enchanting Musical SEUSSICAL JR. This Month

By:

Riverside Children's Theatre presents the enchanting musical, Seussical JR. Part of RCT's 2016-2017 Student Series, Seussical JR. performs two weekends on the Anne Morton Stage -February 17 & 18 and February 24 & 25, 2017

Horton the Elephant, the Cat in the Hat and all of your favorite Dr. Seuss characters spring to life onstage in Seussical JR., a fantastical musical extravaganza from Tony-winners, Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty.

Transporting audiences from the Jungle of Nool to the Circus McGurkus, the Cat in the Hat narrates the story of Horton the Elephant, who discovers a speck of dust containing tiny people called the Whos. Horton must protect the Whos from a world of naysayers and dangers, and he must also guard an abandoned egg that's been left in his care by the irresponsible Mayzie La Bird. Although Horton faces ridicule, danger and a trial, the intrepid Gertrude McFuzz never loses faith in him. Ultimately, the powers of friendship, loyalty, family and community are challenged and emerge triumphant!

"We are excited to be working on a favorite show of ours," say Director Kevin Quillinan. "This is a new classic with a touching story that is always enjoyed by all ages."

"Our students have been fantastic with this material, as they always are! It's a particularly difficult show, with complicated vocals and a lot of moving parts. The cast has learned a lot about working as an ensemble, and preserving their energy throughout an extremely energetic show."

With a talented cast of local young actors, Seussical JR. performs on Friday, February 17 & 24 at 7:30pm and Saturday, February 18 & 25 at 1:30pm & 5:30pm. Riverside Theatre is located at 3250 Riverside Park Drive, Vero Beach, FL 32963.
