The Florida State University Student Theatre Association and the Possum Effect Comedy Troupe present GASP! A Sketch Comedy Show directed by FSU students Audrey Polinski and Claudia Castillo. This production will run from April 12 - 14 in the Augusta Conradi Studio Theatre, located in the Williams Building.

The FSU Student Theatre Association (FSU STA) is a registered student organization that provides resources and educational support to students wanting to put on theatrical productions in Tallahassee. FSU STA possesses a board of undergraduate, graduate, and PhD representatives, as well as supportive faculty and staff, who are there to help students develop their projects.
GASP! A Sketch Comedy Show is an introduction to the Possum Effect Comedy Troupe. It is a two-part comedy/variety show which consists of 10 sketches written and performed by the group. Following the sketches will be a short long-form improvised set.
According to co-director of GASP! Audrey Polinski, the show does not follow any particular theme and the title takes on a double entendre in its meaning.
"Like a laugh, a 'gasp' is an expression that is commonly seen as something that comes naturally from a person; but it can also be forced, like in a cheesy horror movie," Polinski explained. "Comedy and laughter follows the same idea."
This is the first opportunity for the Tallahassee community to get a taste of this group's comedic style.
"We enjoy laughing at each other and occasionally making people uncomfortable," Polinski said. "Not quite sure how the name came to being, either."
The Possum Effect Comedy Troupe essentially started as a group of friends that wanted to form an improv troupe. Established in 2012, the group consists of seven members: Audrey Polinski, Claudia Castillo, Daniel Mutis, Jasmine Jordan, Erkki Pounen, Tyharra Cozier, and Wade Howard.
"Our goal for the show overall is to create honest, genuine comedy where people don't feel like they have to laugh... it just comes naturally," Polinski remarked.
For those who believe in the creation of a stronger community built on an artistic foundation, this is certainly the show for you. The directors and comedy troupe believe that everyone needs laughter in their everyday lives.
"I think Tallahassee needs a strong, tight-knit comedy community, and I really want to inspire other people with good funny bones to make their own troupes and make their own funny work!"
GASP! A Comedy Show will be a hysterical production filled with endless possibilities for laughter and is not to be missed.
