Photo Flash: UNNECESSARY FARCE Begins Tonight at Actors' Playhouse

By:

Actors' Playhouse at the Miracle Theatre will wrap up its 2014-2015 Season with the hilarious comedy Unnecessary Farce by Paul Slade Smith. The production will run tonight, July 15 through August 9, 2015. BroadwayWorld has a sneak peek at the cast below!

Unnecessary Farce takes place in a cheap motel room, where an embezzling mayor is supposed to meet with his female accountant. In the room next-door, two undercover cops wait to catch the meeting on videotape. But there's some confusion as to who's in which room, who's being videotaped, who's taken the money, who's hired a hit man, and why the accountant keeps taking off her clothes. This riotously funny new comedy is full of mix-ups and mayhem.

Directed by Actors' Playhouse Artistic Director David Arisco, the cast includes a talented array of actors led by Chris Crawford as Officer Eric Sheridan. Actors' Playhouse audiences will remember Crawford from his Carbonell Award-winning performance in last year's successful run of Murder Ballad. Allan Baker (Mid-Life! The Crisis Musical, Becky's New Car), will be playing Mayor Meekly, alongside fellow Actors' Playhouse veteran Elizabeth Dimon (Miracle on South Division Street, Making God Laugh) as Mrs. Meekly. Cliff Burgess, known for various productions in the South Florida area, will make his Actors' Playhouse debut as Agent Frank, the Mayor's nefarious security guard. Katherine Amadeo (House and Garden, The Sound of Music) returns to the Miracle Theatre as accountant Karen Brown. Rounding out the cast is AP fan favorite Jim Ballard (SPAMALOT, Rated P for Parenthood, Urinetown) as Todd, the mysterious Scottish hit man and AP newcomer Jessica Sanford, as Officer Billie.

The creative team for Unnecessary Farce includes: Gene Seyffer (scenic design), Ellis Tillman (costume design), Eric Nelson (lighting design) and Shaun Mitchell (sound design).

Preview night tickets on the first Wednesday and Thursday are $35. Tickets for weeknights and matinees are $45, and on Friday and Saturday evenings $53. Single tickets may be purchased through the box office at 305-444-9293 or online at www.actorsplayhouse.org.
