A lifelong lover of opera, Cornelia T. Bailey has been a subscriber and supporter of Palm Beach Opera for more than 10 years. Her vision and generous sponsorships made numerous mainstage opera productions possible.

"Cornelia was an extraordinary lady," said General Director Daniel Biaggi. "The entire Palm Beach Opera family is deeply saddened by the loss of one of our cherished supporters and champions. Our company, and our community, have been immeasurably enriched through her long dedication to, and support of, the arts. She will be sorely missed by all who knew her."

Starting in 2013, Cornelia decided to become an underwriter of Palm Beach Opera's mainstage operas through specifically contributing the productions of La Cenerentola, The Barber of Seville, La Bohème, and Carmen. Most recently, Mrs. Bailey supported the 2017 production of Giuseppe Verdi's Rigoletto as an Executive Producer in Palm Beach Opera's Co-Producer Society.

Cornelia's elegant soul shone through her deep commitment to this community and in her generous support of many cultural organizations including: the Kravis Center for the Performing Arts, Norton Museum of Art, Maltz Jupiter Theatre, and, of course, Palm Beach Opera. Her commitment to philanthropy was also demonstrated through her generous support to various social services and health care organizations in South Florida, Connecticut, New York City, and Washington D.C.

Cornelia T. Bailey's legacy as a Palm Beach Opera patron and supporter will continue every time the curtain rises on another mainstage opera production.

Palm Beach Opera is dedicated to producing live opera at an international standard of excellence and to enriching the life of the communities it serves with a diverse offering of educational programs. Founded in 1961, the fully professional Palm Beach Opera presents mainstage performances at the Kravis Center for the Performing Arts in West Palm Beach and is a proud member of OPERA America and the Cultural Council of Palm Beach County.
