ONE-MAN STAR WARS TRILOGY Invades Sarasorta 12/28-29, 2010

By:

Ready your light sabers Sarasota, Asolo Rep is bringing Charles Ross' wildly entertaining One-Man Star Wars Trilogy to town, on December 28 and 29 at 5 and 8 p.m. The show has been performed all over the world since 2002, from London to Dubai to George Lucas-endorsed Star Wars conventions. When it appeared off-Broadway, Ross's success prompted a licensing agreement making him an official part of the Star Wars Empire.

He'll be in Sarasota for two days only!In his hilarious, 60-minute, kinetic solo piece, Canadian writer/performer Ross plays all the characters, recreates the effects, sings from John Williams' score, flies the ships, and fights both sides of the battles from the original Star Wars trilogy, illuminating his performance with fascinating factoids and editorial asides.

There are no costumes, no props, no sets - just Ross using his nimble body, amazing knack for voices, ingenious facial expressions, and high energy to put his individual stamp on the Star Wars universe. Some say Ross spent too much of his childhood in a galaxy far, far away because by the age of 10, he had watched the first Star Wars film more than 400 times and committed virtually every line to memory. Since then, Ross has channeled his childhood obsession into a uniquely entertaining theatrical piece that he's performed in more than 180 cities around the world. Where does he get all that energy? Why, from the force of course.

Tickets: $28-$40; buy online at www.asolorep.org, or at the box office (941-351-8000 and 800-361-8388).

Seating is limited. The show is presented by Asolo Repertory Theatre as part of its EXTRAS Series, and will be performed in the Historic Asolo Theater at the Ringling Museum. Go to www.onemanstarwars.com to learn more about Charles Ross and this remarkable show.
