It has family. It has dysfunction. And it has genuine star power.
Rosemary Prinz, a veteran of Broadway and the CBS daytime drama As the World Turns, leads the cast in the Maltz Jupiter Theatre's production of Neil Simon's Lost in Yonkers, which runs Dec. 1-13.

The Pulitzer Prize- and Tony Award-winning coming-of-age tale, set in the summer of 1942, follows two boys being raised by a band of eccentric relatives. Prinz plays the harsh immigrant matriarch of the family.

"It is our great privilege to have signed Rosemary on for this production," said Andrew Kato, the Maltz Jupiter Theatre's artistic director. "Her credentials are amazing."

Prinz made her Broadway debut with Walter Matthau in 1952's The Grey-Eyed People; other credits include Prisoner of Second Avenue, Three Men on a Horse, Tonight in Samarkand, Late Love and Tribute. She originated the role of M'Lynn in the Off-Broadway production of Steel Magnolias. Prinz appeared as Penny Hughes in As the World Turns on CBS for 12 years and later starred on ABC's All My Children.

The show, a co-production with the Cleveland Play House and Paper Mill Playhouse, is directed by Michael Bloom, artistic director of the Cleveland Play House.

In addition to Prinz as Grandma, the complete cast is: Max Beer (Arty), Patricia Buckley (Gert), Tony Crane (Louie), John Plumpis (Eddie), Sara Surrey (Bella), Alex Wyse (Jay).

Lost in Yonkers begins its run at Maltz Jupiter Theatre, then plays the Cleveland Play House Jan. 8-31, before moving to Paper Mill Playhouse for a run from Feb.17-March 14.

Tickets at the Maltz Jupiter Theatre are $39-$56, and are available at the theatre box office at (561) 575-2223 or online at www.jupitertheatre.org.
