Marilyn Maye brought "Her Own Kind Of Broadway" show to the Colony Hotel in Palm Beach last week. The merchants on Worth Ave. were probably complaining about a lack of shoppers during her performances-everyone seemed to be at the Colony to hear this American treasure. For this engagement she brought along her longtime friend (and birthday boy) pianist Billy Stritch.
Marilyn's "Broadway Show" blends her powerful voice with her unique ability to swing, and it lifted the audience out of their seats and into her Jazz Waltz World.. One of the "special cheers" in the crowd came from Ann Hampton Callaway who is following Marilyn's engagement at the Colony.
Ms Maye will be at Feinsteins New York in May/June and Billy will be doing his Mel Torme' show at the Kravitz Center in Palm Beach April 1st & 2nd.
