MY NAME IS RACHEL CORRIE Will Open at True Mirage Theater's New Miami Venue with
Celia Voges stars in the Alan Rickman-edited play, directed by Daniel Gil, in her professional debut.
True Mirage Theater will inaugurate its new theater space this June with a production of My Name Is Rachel Corrie, running June 12 through June 21 and directed by Daniel Gil.
The production stars Celia Voges, a graduate of New World School of the Arts and an alumna of Mini Mirage Theater, in her professional debut.
Constructed from the real journals, emails, and writings of American activist Rachel Corrie, the play offers an intimate portrait of a young woman searching for meaning, humanity, and moral responsibility in an increasingly divided world.
Edited by actor Alan Rickman and journalist Katharine Viner, the piece traces Rachel's journey from an introspective teenager in Olympia, Washington to her final months in Gaza in 2003, where she was crushed to death by an IDF bulldozer.
At once deeply personal and politically charged, the play captures Rachel's humor, vulnerability, idealism, and urgency through her own words.
Originally premiering at London's Royal Court Theatre, My Name Is Rachel Corrie has remained one of the most discussed documentary plays of the 21st century, provoking conversation around activism, empathy, privilege, and the cost of bearing witness.
The production also marks a major milestone for True Mirage Theater as the company officially opens its new black box venue in Miami's Pinecrest/Kendall area. Known for producing Miami premieres and rarely seen works, the company has built a reputation for fostering ambitious young artists and creating space for challenging theatrical storytelling.
By opening the new venue with My Name Is Rachel Corrie, True Mirage continues its mission of presenting theater that invites dialogue, and holds a mirror up to society, while giving emerging local artists professional opportunities.
Performances will run June 12th thru the 21st at the new True Mirage Theater space. Friday and Saturday nights at 8pm, Sundays at 5:30pm, with a run time of 90 minutes.
