'Live at Lynn' Series to Present CELEBRATION ON ICE, River North Dance and Tommy Tune This Winter

Lynn University and producer Jan McArt, director of theatre arts program development, today announced that the Libby Dodson's Live at Lynn Theatre Series will present three major shows during January and February 2015:

Jan. 17-18 Celebration on Ice * Saturday: 7:30 p.m. * Sunday: 4 p.m.

People of all ages love this theatrical show that combines the beauty and athleticism of figure skating with the wonder and excitement of incredible specialty acts. Originally created for Ocean Park Hong Kong, this variety production is filled with dazzling costumes, high-energy music and world class skating. Bring the family.

Critically acclaimed for its dynamic and sensual repertoire, River North Dance Chicago is known for gifted and emotive dancers, electrifying music and radiant and dramatic choreography that demonstrate depth and sophistication with bold, theatrical flair.

Dedicated to the creative advancement and preservation of jazz-based contemporary dance, the dancers have made a name for themselves on the world stage with their powerful selections and commanding choreography under the artistic direction of Frank Chaves. Chaves aims for audiences to feel the complete spectrum of human emotions in a single performance, leaving them joyful and exhilarated at the end of each program.

Feb. 28-Mar. 1 Tommy Tune * Saturday: 7:30 p.m. * Sunday: 4 p.m.

Tommy Tune will showcase his golden decade as a performer, choreographer and director by high-stepping through a celebration of the glorious moments that made him an icon on the American stage. Tune has been honored with nine Tony Awards, The National Medal of Arts, eight Drama Desk Awards, three Astaire Awards and multiple Life Time Achievement Awards. Accompanied by musical director Michael Biagi, this legendary song-and-dance man presents a masterful evening that leaves audiences breathless.

The Live at Lynn Opening Night Cabaret Receptions Starring Legendary Singer/Pianist Michael Laird Opening night guests are invited to join Jan McArt in the Lynn Salon for a glass of wine and a little cabaret music while they hob-nob and have a photo taken with the stars immediately following the Saturday opening night performances. The cost to attend is $20 per person for both Theatre Arts Guild members and nonmembers. Because seating is limited, priority is given to Guild members.
