The play premiered in September 2009 and concluded in October 2009, before the production moved to the United States.

youngARTS evaluates students against a standard of excellence for their discipline and age. Approximately 10 percent of the 6-8,000 annual applicants receive scholarships and awards. Of those, up to 150 students are chosen to participate in youngARTS Week, during which they are brought to Miami for an all-expenses-paid week of master classes, showcase performances, exhibitions, interdisciplinary activities, enrichment programs, interviews, and the final auditions.

youngARTS winners share $500,000 in cash awards - an additional $3 million in scholarship opportunities is available to all youngARTS applicants.

NFAA is the exclusive nominating agency for the Presidential Scholars in the Arts. NFAA also supports young artists through its programs for alumni, including internships, grants, awards, and career development opportunities.
