Lake Worth Playhouse Continues its 59th Season With SHOUT
Shout! flips through the years like a musical magazine and takes you back to the music, the fashion and the freedom of the 60's! This smashing revue tracks five groovy gals as they come of age during those liberating days that made England swing! Join this non-stop journey through the infectious and soulful pop anthems and ballads that made household names of stars like Petula Clark, Dusty Springfield and Lulu.
Shout! uses letters to an advice columnist, true confessions, quizzes and advertisements as a frame for terrific new arrangements of such chart-topping hits as "To Sir With Love," "Downtown," "You Don't Have to Say You Love Me," "Son of a Preacher Man," and "Goldfinger."
SHOUT! first appeared on stage as a musical revue at The Duplex in New York City. It then transferred to London's Jermyn Street Theatre where spoken material was added. It was nominated as Best Musical by Whatsonstage.com against all of the big West End Shows. In 2004, SHOUT! returned to New York City and opened the first New York Musical Theater Festival (NYMF). In 2005, SHOUT! had a developmental staged reading at the Lambs Theater in New York City where more spoken material was added. In June of 2006 SHOUT! premiered at The Raymond F. Kravis Center for the Performing Arts in West Palm Beach in Florida. In July of the same year, SHOUT! opened an Off-Broadway run at the Julia Miles Theatre in New York City.
Tickets can be purchased through the Lake Worth Playhouse Box Office at 561-586-6410 or online at lakeworthplayhouse.org.
