Jerry Springer has joined the cast of the award winning comedy CELEBRITY AUTOBIOGRAPHY and will perform in the VAN WEZEL PERFORMING ARTS HALL'S GRAND FOYER, in an intimate Cabaret-style setting, on Tuesday, January 11 at 7 and 9 p.m.

Several years ago, the greater Sarasota community welcomed, "Jerry! Jerry! Jerry!" Throughout his illustrious career Jerry Springer has become a cultural and civic icon. No matter what your feelings are on the quality of the programming, "The Jerry Springer Show," now in its 20th season, has had remarkable and lasting popularity.  Jerry Springer has been the mayor of Cincinnati, political pundit, lawyer, award-winning newscaster, country recording artist, international emcee, TV personality, author, and public speaker. He has appeared in movies and on Broadway, is a progressive talk-radio broadcaster and recently won America's heart with his ballroom dancing.

Jerry Springer's biography is as noteworthy and intriguing as his career. Born in London in 1944, just after his family fled the Holocaust, Jerry and his family immigrated to New York City when he was just five years old. For the Springer family, America represented a place where people could live without persecution. Jerry went on to earn a degree in political science from Tulane University, followed by his law degree from Northwestern University. He worked on Senator Robert Kennedy's presidential campaign and then spearheaded the movement in Ohio to lower the voting age from 21 to 18. In 1971, he won a seat on the Cincinnati City Council and served five terms before becoming mayor at age 33, with the largest plurality in the city's history.

Jerry Springer won't be performing his autobiography, but he will be poking fun at a few of his colleagues in CELEBRITY AUTOBIOGRAPHY.

Ticket prices range from $40 to $50.  For more information and to buy tickets, contact the Van Wezel Box office at (941) 953-3368 or log onto www.vanwezel.org. This show is sponsored by Herald Tribune Media Group.
