Gulfshore Playhouse to Perform Exclusive Reading of New Play "Significant Others" November 14 at Café Lurcat

Gulfshore Playhouse will perform an exclusive reading of "Significant Others" by Jason Odell Williams November 14 at Café Lurcat. This is a new twist on the "reading" idea. Café Lurcat will be serving a specially-designed three-course meal with 5:00, 5:30 or 6:00pm seating times. The reading will start at 7:30 p.m. while patrons relax with their dessert or a glass of wine.

Significant Others, a new two-person play by Jason Odell Williams, is a fast-paced, funny and honest look into the mind of a modern-day married man, desperately trying to be good -- to himself, and to the four women in his life, who are all played by the same actress. In this case, the actress, happens to be Williams' wife, Charlotte Cohn, currently starring in "Handle with Care" at Gulfshore Playhouse.

Admission to the reading is free. The three-course menu is $35. Dining is required for entry. To reserve your seat for this exclusive event, call the Gulfshore Playhouse administrative office at 239-261-PLAY(7529) with the preferred dinner time (5:00, 5:30 or 6:00 p.m.). Seating is limited, and will be provided on a first-come, first-served basis.

"My hope is that this will be the beginning of a reading series we can continue throughout the season, utilizing our professional actors who are in town for the run of a show to highlight a new play worthy of attention," says Founder and Producing Artistic Director Kristen Coury

Playwright Jason Odell Williams is currently in town for Gulfshore Playhouse's production of Handle with Care, which he wrote four years ago. In the 2010-2011 season, three of Jason's plays were produced in New York. He began writing plays in 2007, and since then his work has been developed at Primary Stages, Manhattan Theatre Club, New Jersey Rep, The Bleecker Street Theatre, The Jewish Cultural Arts Theatre, Ensemble Studio Theatre, Rep Stage and The Baltimore Playwrights Festival.

Jason's wife, Charlotte Cohn is a former Lieutenant in the Israeli Army and current Broadway performer. Charlotte is also an Ovation Award Winner for her performance in La Boheme at The Ahmanson Theatre in L.A. and a Bay Area Critics' Circle Award Best Actress nominee for her performance as ‘Hallelujah Lil' in Happy End at A.C.T. in San Francisco. Charlotte is also an operatic singer, and Gulfshore Playhouse and The Norris Center will be presenting her cabaret show called "Simply Complicated: The Elegant Escapades of a Danish-Israeli Opera Singing Tank Commander" on April 27th and 28th.
