ABOUT THE SOUND OF MUSIC

After the huge success of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor® Dreamcoat in 2010, the Garden Theatre chose The Sound of Music as its second full-length, self-produced musical. This year also marks the 50th anniversary of the beloved family film, based on the original Broadway show.

The large cast and crew required create an ideal opportunity for lots of community involvement. The volunteers on the production team (many of whom were part of last year's production) began work on set design, choreography, and staging last fall. In addition, crew and community volunteers have been working on set construction and painting since late February. In addition to their work behind-the scenes, the Garden Theatre also depends heavily on volunteers to help patrons attending the performances. In all, over 300 people are involved in this Garden Theatre production.
