Funding Arts Broward Awards More Than $185,000 to Arts Organizations

By:

This season, when you engage in Broward County arts programming and find yourself wistfully enjoying Master Chorale of South Florida as they perform Songs of War and Peace, or viewing a local production of Through the Looking Glass at Fort Lauderdale's Children's Theatre- remember Funding Arts Broward (FAB!). Twenty-three local arts programs have been supported through the Funding Arts Broward (FAB!) grant program for the 2013 - 2014 season.

The objective of Funding Arts Broward is to create a sustainable funding pool to provide grants to eligible Broward County arts organizations. Individual members contribute $1000 annually, business members $3500, which enables FAB! to make a significant impact as a funding source. Since its first awards in 2004, FAB! has awarded more then $1.8 million locally. Funding Arts Broward, FAB! is a non-profit organization dedicated to preserving and cultivating the arts in Broward County. Now in its 10th year, the organization was created in response to the need for private financial support. Members volunteer to review grant applications, conduct site visits and evaluate and recommend funding for specific projects. Grantees are then selected by a vote of the FAB! members.
