Florida Grand Opera (FGO) is pleased to announce its upcoming partnership with Cuban-born artist, Mildrey Guillot (pronounced: gi-'lot), for the company's upcoming production of Carmen at the Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts. Guillot's work will be exhibited in the exclusive Opera Lounge at the Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts from November 12-19.
Born in Havana, Cuba, Mildrey Guillot spent several years in Madrid, Spain where she acquired and developed some of her techniques and themes. Her love for Madrid is present in some of her works. Her preferred form of visual expression makes use of oils, due to the medium's versatility and overall vivacity; however, Guillot frequently uses charcoals and pastels in a unique palette of colors to add an element of mystery or mysticism to her works.
"I can relate to the drama of Carmen: a gypsy woman who represents passion and freedom of love," says the artist. "These same feelings are found in my paintings."
Guillot exhibits in Spain, Paris, South America, Puerto Rico, the United States and Switzerland. For more information about purchase of her artwork, please contact Carlton Ford at 305.403.3320 or cford@fgo.org.
