Fantasy Theatre Factory Opens Submissions For Its Second Annual New Year, New Works Festival Image

Fantasy Theatre Factory continues its dedication to the development of the performing arts in its community with the return of the highly-anticipated New Year, New Works festival. After the promising success of its first run, New Year, New Works is back to support local, upcoming artists and to bring their work to life.

Submissions for the 2019 play reading festival are now open on FTF's website. Playwrights have until Nov. 16 to submit one unproduced, original play. FTF will select between four to eight plays to be presented as staged readings at the Sandrell Rivers Theater in January 2019. Selected plays will be announced on Nov. 30.

Candidates must be Florida residents, at least 18 years old, and the sole author of the material. Submitted plays can be of any genre, theme, form or style, and must be between 30 minutes to two hours long. FTF accepts uploads in PDF (preferred) or Word format.

A panel of FTF staff, board members , and artists will carefully evaluate all submissions based on quality of writing and originality of concept. Works are reviewed through a blind submission process.

Last year's event brought in nearly sold-out crowds, and FTF expects a great increase in submissions this year, promising even more diverse and engaging programming.

"We are so excited to bring back New Year, New Works and give local playwrights the platform to expose their work to the community," said Executive Artistic Director, Larry Fields. "The program is expanding and becoming more competitive; we are looking forward to presenting more impressive, original work."

New Year, New Works is one of two play reading programs currently offered by Fantasy Theatre Factory. For more information and guidelines on how to submit work, playwrights can visit www.ftfshows.com/plays.
