Tickets are $39.50, and can be purchased now through the Adrienne Arsht Center box office at (305) 949-6722 or online at www.arshtcenter.org

For over 50 years Second City has delivered non-stop belly laughs to the masses, carving out a highly-acclaimed reputation as the mecca of comedy. Now, the theater troupe famous for training comedic legends will delight South Florida with a world premiere production, featuring a mixture of classic Second City sketches and all new scenes that shed a comic light on the issues facing today's Latino population living in the U.S.  From English-only legislation, to the first "Wise Latina" on the Supreme Court, no topic is off limits in this perfect comedic salsa that only Second City can serve.

"EL SHOW MAS FUNNY is the perfect comedic treat for the city of Miami, so rich with Latin culture and spirit," said M. John Richard, President and CEO of the Adrienne Arsht Center. "By turning a comic spotlight on Latino life in the U.S., the legendary Second City troupe has designed this world premiere specifically for South Florida, for an evening of humor that will resonate with personal experience and echo with laughter."

EL SHOW MAS FUNNY transforms the often challenging current issues facing the Latino community in the U.S. into rollicking comedic theater, with a spotlight on the many misconceptions about life as a Latino in Los United States.  Director Martin Garcia and Musical Director Julie Nichols bring a flair for the dramatic with the show's sex, politics, and Spanglish humor.  Current cast member, Shelly Gossman explains why Second City will always be at the forefront of creativity: "It's always current. It can't get antiquated. It's not a script from 20 or 30 years ago. It's theater in the now!"

Since its creation in 1959, Second City has been the country's premier improv-based sketch comedy ensemble. The company has theaters in Chicago and Toronto, where productions filled with political and social satire such as Shut Up and Show Us Your Tweets!, Taming of the Flu, and Barack Stars are performed for sold-audiences year-round. Second City also has training centers in Chicago, Toronto, and Hollywood, where countless stars launched their careers prior to appearing in major motion pictures and TV shows such as Saturday Night Live. The theater company also has 11 touring ensembles appearing throughout the nation.

In 1976, Second City: Toronto created a television series called SCTV, featuring the late actor John Candy. During its seven-year run, the show garnered 13 Emmy Award nominations and won two Emmys for best writing. The cutting-edge show served as an original template for a new sketch comedy format on television, inspiring virtually all other sketch programs to come. Second City continues to develop projects in all areas, including television series, feature films, and new media.

Second City also has an Outreach and Diversity division, which supports actors with ongoing training, scholarships, and performance opportunities. The division's programming includes multicultural events and high school improvisation and writing programs in underserved communities. The program has supported the development of ensembles including GayCo Productions, Salsation, Stir-Friday Night, Pimprov, and kevINda.

EL SHOW MAS FUNNY is generously underwritten in part by Adrienne Arsht Center Premier Members David and Marian Rocker and Francine and Herbert Tobin.
