This summer, learn to get "footloose" from one of Broadway's best at the Maltz Jupiter Theatre's Conservatory of Performing Arts' Senior Conservatory camp!

Veteran performer Dennis O'Bannion will arrive at the Theatre in June from New York City to direct and choreograph the Theatre's production of the musical Footloose, which students in the Conservatory's three-week Senior Conservatory will prepare for and perform on the Theatre's stage.

O'Bannion, last seen at the Theatre in the musical Crazy for You, has performed on Broadway in Irving Berlin's White Christmas and has been recently seen showcasing his talents on The Late Show with Jimmy Fallon, on stage with the New York City Opera and dancing with So You Think You Can Dance choreographer Mia Michaels.

"This is a great opportunity for local children and teens to have the chance to experience what it's like to work in professional theatre and perform on that Theatre's stage in a full musical, complete with lighting, sets and more," O'Bannion said. "I'm particularly excited to share with the students all of the knowledge I've gained from living and working in New York City as a professional performer for the past nine years."

The camp is the Conservatory's annual three-week Senior Conservatory summer camp (grades 6-12), in which students learn all aspects of stage production, culminating in full performances of a show. Other options for grades K-12 include a one-week comedy camp and a two-week dance intensive camp.

Footloose, a stage adaptation of the 1984 film, offers a positive message of tolerance and celebrating life. A high-octane rock musical with power and flair, the show offers an all-singing, all-dancing journey through the 1980's.

During camp, O'Bannion will guide students to experience the process of auditioning for a Broadway show, a fast-paced rehearsal schedule and the opportunity to showcase all that they've learned onstage.

"The Senior Conservatory is a wonderful opportunity for aspiring young performers in the community to experience the thrill of putting together a show and performing it onstage with costumes and professional lighting," O'Bannion said. "I'm really looking forward to working with the Theatre's passionate students on this production of Footloose! I know it will be fun, energetic, and have great music and a whole lot of dancing."

Footloose performances are slated for June 24 and 25 at 7:30 p.m., with camp scheduled for Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., June 6 - 25.

Tickets for performances are $20 for adults; $15 for children.

The Maltz Jupiter Theatre Conservatory of Performing Arts offers a challenging, innovative and quality theatre experience to students of all ages and abilities. In addition to a full schedule of classes, the Conservatory's workshops and master classes offer students an opportunity to learn first-hand about the world of theatre from nationally known composers and performers, agents and local instructors.
