Boys II Men Play The Lyric Theater 10/29, 10/30

By:

The Lyric welcomes Boyz II Men on Friday, October 29 - 8:00 p.m. and Saturday, October 30 - 8:00 p.m.

Boyz II Men took the music world by storm in the early 90s with their smooth tradeMark Harmonies, "retro nouveau" image, synchronized dance routines and polished stage presence. They are one of the most successful R&B groups of all time.

Their first release on Motown Records, "Cooleyhighharmony," is considered a classic of nineties "new jack swing," or as the Boyz prefer to call it, "hip-hop doo-wop." What a debut! The album sold over nine million copies in the United States alone, earned the group its first Grammy Award, and spun off three major hits: "Motownphilly," "It's So Hard to Say Goodbye to Yesterday" and "Uhh Ahh."

And that was just for starters. Between 1992 and 1997, Boyz II Men recorded five number one pop hits and 12 top ten R&B singles, sold over 60 million records worldwide, and earned three more Grammys. Their memorable songs include "End of the Road" (from the film "Boomerang"), "I'll Make Love to You," "On Bended Knee" and "Water Runs Dry." They also collaborated with Mariah Carey on "One Sweet Day," which became a Grammy Award-winning single and topped the Hot 100 for 16 weeks.

These days, the Boyz are bringing their special brand of musical magic to everything from Motown hits ("The Tracks of My Tears," "Mercy, Mercy Me") to love ballads ("If You Leave Me Now," "In My Life"). A sensational evening of smooth sounds is in store!
