Rated P for Parenthood, the new Off-Broadway musical revue about the joys and quirks of having kids, will have its South Florida premiere at Actors' Playhouse at the Miracle Theatre from July 10 - August 11, 2013.
In Rated P for Parenthood, a versatile cast of four takes the audience through the ups and downs of childrearing - from the sublime to the ridiculous - in a series of comic and musical vignettes in under 90 minutes. With book and lyrics by Sandy Rustin, music and lyrics by Dan Lipton and David Rossmer, Rated P for Parenthood is a sketch-comedy musical chronicling the 21st century joys and frustrations of raising children, from bleary-eyed late night feedings and private school kindergarten interviews, to nail-biting driving lessons and prom night. For mature audiences only, Rated P is sure to touch a chord with parents, and anyone who has had them...eliciting chuckles of recognition and maybe even a tear or two of remembrance.
Directed by David Arisco, the cast features Julie Kleiner (Hairspray, Spelling Bee, The Marvelous Wonderettes), Jim Ballard (The Color of Desire, 1776, Urinetown), Henry Gainza (In the Heights, Godspell, Spelling Bee) and Amy Miller Brennan (Footloose, Miss Saigon, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Oliver!).
"Rated P is the funniest sketch comedy and musical revue I've come across in the last decade," said Actors' Playhouse Artistic Director David Arisco. "Our multi-talented cast is ready to deliver an incredibly topical and relatable evening of fun summer entertainment. If you are a parent or have a parent, this show is for you!"The creative team for Rated P for Parenthood includes Manny Schvartzman (Musical Direction), Gene Seyffer (Scenic Design), Ellis Tillman (Costume Design), Patrick Tennent (Lighting Design) and Alexander Herrin (Sound Design).
