Fall Season of Jazz, Classical Music, and Love Songs

All events are at the Arts at St Johns at St. John's on the Lake Church, 4760 Pine Tree Drive, Miami Beach 33140

FEATURING: Greg Diaz - Tenor Sax, Rodolfo Zuniga - Drums, James McCoy - Bass, and Nestor Zurita - Alto Sax

Program Director Nestor Zurita has created a fall lineup of artists who have roots from around the world. Although jazz is an American phenomena, jazz has played important roles in the cultures of people from Russia to Iran, from Japan to South America.


Greg Diaz has roots in Cuba, Rodolfo Zuniga is from Costa Rica, James McCoy hails from Kentucky, and Nestor has roots in Ecuador and Cuba. The mix is eclectic -- and pure jazz.

What Guys Do for Love: From Arias to Art Song

FEATURING: Lloyd Reshard Jr. - Bass-Baritone and David Ramcharitar - Tenor, with pianist Sergio Puig

Learn what is in every guy's black book of love, through song. There will be selections from Mendelsohn's 'Elijah', 'Don Giovanni', 'L'Elisir d'Amore', Schumann's 'Dichterliebe', and American opera arias and Musical theatre song's (and more)!

The first in their Fall Classical Music series

Dr. Robert David Billington, flute, and Dr. Rene Gonzalez, guitar, have a repertoire of classical music ranging from transcriptions of Elizabethan music for recorder and lute to original compositions of twentieth-century music for flute and guitar.Sat., Nov. 5, 7 pm

INTERSECTION - Contemporary Christian Music Project
FEATURING Nancy Snowden Gutgsell and Lloyd Reshard Jr. Spend an evening with Nancy and Lloyd as they celebrate the restorative power of the Spirit through music, poetry and prayer. The audience can join in with the familiar tunes. Attendees are invited to bring a poem, a song, an instrument, or a story of healing to share.

Sun., Nov. 27, 3 pm - THE DELRAY STRING QUARTET 

FEATURING: Mei Mei Luo - First Violin, Tomas Cotik - Second Violin, Richard Fleischman - Viola, and Claudio Jaffé - Cello.  

The Delray String Quartet has clearly established itself as one of the cultural jewels of Delray Beach and the South Florida region. The Delray String Quartet has been described by the press as "well-balanced and elegant," "adding luster to the South Florida music scene," "with the players ripping into the music with savage abandon."

Like many South Florida artists who perform at Arts at St Johns, the quartet hails from all corners of the globe. Luo is from China, Fleischman is from NYC and New Jersey, Jaffé is from Rio de Janeiro, and Cotik is from Buenos Aires.
