Wedding Bells Ringing at Stage Door

Now showing at the Stage Door Theatre through January 16, is "A Taffeta Wedding", from the author and creator of all things "Taffeta" (The Taffetas, Taffeta Christmas, and Taffeta Memories), Rick Lewis.

The Stage Door production is being directed by Arthur Whitelaw, who directed the original "Taffeta" Off-Broadway, and was the original producer. Whitelaw has won and/or been nominated for every industry award including the Tony, Emmy, Oscar, Drama Desk Award, and Obie. "The Taffetas are special to us because they take us to a simpler, gentler time in our history. People are responding so positively to it, because it is just fun!!" exclaims Whitelaw, with a laugh.

The story revolves around 4 girls (The Taffetas, an imaginary girl group of the 1950's), and their boyfriends, The Cardigans. They are scheduled to get married on live, national television in 1964. Featuring songs, like "Love is a Many Splendored Thing", "Going to the Chapel", and "Put Your Head on My Shoulder", it is a musical feast.

Music Direction is by Sergio Puig, and Musical Staging is by Michael Leeds. The cast includes Meredith Bartmon, Garrett Bruce, Rebecca Cesario, John Debkowski, Matt Falber, Chloe Golden, Andrew Oberstein, Emily Senn, and Cheyenne Lentz.

The Stage Door is located at 8036 W. Sample Rd., Coral Springs. Price Range $38 to $42.00.
