William Harvey, concertino of the Orquesta Sinfónica Nacional, will perform Behzad Ranjbaran's Concierto para violín, a work inspired by the kamancheh, a traditional Iranian instrument, and originally composed for renowned violinist Joshua Bell. The concert is part of the program Shostakovich 50, which also features Shostakovich's Symphony No. 1 and Paulino Paredes' Espalda mojada. Harvey brings a personal connection to the piece, having debuted it at the Juilliard School and developed his understanding of its cultural significance through his experiences in Afghanistan. This performance is scheduled for April 4 and April 6, 2025, at the Instituto Nacional de Bellas Artes y Literatura.
