Speech & Debate by Stephen Karam closes January 30, 2011 at POTS@TheWorks Series at TheatreWorks

**Warning: This show contains strong language and mature subject matter.

An aspiring teen journalist, an awkward wannabe popstar, and the openly gay new kid in town all have secrets. But when their squeaky clean small-town high school refuses to acknowledge the messy parts of being a teenager, this ragtag bunch of misfits starts an after school Speech and Debate team to expose a possible scandal - and sparks more debate than their high school ever bargained for. "Bristling with vitality, wicked humor, terrific dialogue, and a direct pipeline into the zeitgeist of contemporary youth." - Variety

Speech & Debate is directed by Dave Landis and features Ostrander Award winner, Mary Buchignani, as well as newcomers to the POTS@TheWorks Series at TheatreWorks- Jenny Lynn Christoffersen (Associate Company Member), Ian Goodwin, and Sam Shankman.

POTS@TheWorks Series at TheatreWorks is located at 2085 Monroe in Midtown. For more information or to make reservations, please call 901-726-4656 or go online to www.playhouseonthesquare.org.
