Grant Maloy Smith to Perform at Nashville's Two Old Hippies on Tuesday, 9/12 ImageSinger/songwriter Grant Maloy Smith will perform songs from his critically acclaimed album "Dust Bowl: American Stories" at Two Old Hippies in Nashville's Gulch district on Tuesday, September 12, from 2:00-3:00 p.m.

Smith is among many American roots and country artists in town for the annual AmericanaFest, September 12-17 at various locations throughout Music City.

Smith's album is based on the history of the Dust Bowl, the series of dust storms that devastated the Southern Plains states during the Great Depression. It has received excellent reviews from The Alternate Root, Knoxville News-Sentinel and No Depression Magazine, which called his single "I Come From America" one of the "best pro-American songs in a long time." (See the music video here: https://youtu.be/n0dPA-xzMF0)

"My main goal in writing the album was to capture the hardy nature of those people who endured so much, set against the backdrop of this real-life drama," Smith said. "These storms happened over and over, for years. People were sickened from breathing in pounds of dirt each year. Pneumonia and other respiratory ailments were common. 'Dust Bowl - American Stories' is a cautionary tale, but it's also about the triumph of the human spirit in the face of great adversity."

"Dust Bowl - American Stories" is available on iTunes, Amazon, CD Baby and elsewhere. For more information, visit www.Grant-Maloy-Smith.com.

Other artists performing in Nashville during AmericanaFest include Amanda Shires, Drive-By Truckers, Jim Lauderdale, Lee Ann Womack & Friends, The Band of Heathens, The Lumineers and many more. For a complete festival schedule, visit www.AmericanaMusic.org.
