COPPELIA Will Come to PJPAC in June
The performance will take place at Petaling Jaya Performing Arts Centre form 6-7 June.
A new production of the classical ballet Coppélia will bring a full-length staging that blends humor, romance, and theatrical charm to PJPAC. The performance will take place at Petaling Jaya Performing Arts Centre form 6-7 June.
Set in a lively village filled with celebration, Coppélia tells the story of Swanhilda and Franz, a young couple whose relationship is tested when Franz becomes captivated by the mysterious Coppélia—a silent figure who appears each day on a balcony. Swanhilda’s curiosity leads her to investigate, uncovering the workshop of the eccentric Dr. Coppélius, where lifelike mechanical dolls blur the line between illusion and reality.
What follows is a playful and inventive sequence of disguises, mistaken identities, and comic twists, as Swanhilda takes matters into her own hands. Known for its lighthearted tone and engaging storytelling, Coppélia remains one of the most enduring works in the classical ballet repertoire, celebrated for its wit, charm, and ultimately uplifting message of love and perseverance.
