Ogunquit Playhouse and Rotary International Team Up

The venerable Ogunquit Playhouse, which is celebrating its 85th Anniversary season is once again joining forces with Rotary International to continue in the fight to eradicate polio worldwide by 2018. The annual Rotary Night is scheduled for Thursday, June 1, for the evening performance of Mamma Mia! Joining the fight is as easy as buying a ticket to the international hit show! A portion of every ticket purchased for that evening's performance will be donated to Rotary International. The Ogunquit Playhouse has contributed over $10,000 towards this cause through Rotary Night ticket proceeds over the past six years.
Panel Discussion on the Making of Always...Patsy Cline Comes to MSMT

Penobscot Theatre Company Heads Into Summer with THE FULL MONTY

Penobscot Theatre Company is capping its 43rd season with a feel-good musical that has charmed audiences worldwide: The Full Monty (book by Terrence McNally and music and lyrics by David Yazbek) will open in previews June 15 and run through July 9, with 21 performances at the historic Bangor Opera House.

MSMT Launches New Public Film Series

The rain was pouring down outside and the aroma of fresh hot popcorn wafted through the Morrell Meeting Room as a sizeable crowd gathered on this gloomy Friday evening at Curtis Memorial Library in Brunswick to enjoy a new public film series, created by MSMT, hosted by Artistic Director Curt Dale Clark, and facilitated by Olivia Wenner, Group Sales and Outreach Manager. The project, part of MSMT's community outreach program, is entitled Film Fridays and offers free screenings in HD and surround sound of three movie musicals which will be produced in their stage versions this summer at MSMT. The movies are then followed by a talkback with Curt Dale Clark, moderated by Broadway World Maine Editor Carla Maria Verdino-Sullwold and - to add a little levity and spice - by a special trivia contest with prize of two complimentary tickets to MSMT's stage show for the winner.

"This is probably the hardest play I have ever done," director Reba Short confides about her latest assignment, Mr. Burns, a Post Electric Play that opens at South Portland's Mad Horse Theatre Company Friday, May 5th. "There are so many moving parts to this play. I have had to call up every class ever took in college and every skill I've ever learned. It's a very complicated work that moves from realism to kabuki like stylization and takes place in three distinct realms and times. I completely understand why [playwright] Anne Washburn called it a 'beast of a play.'"

Tickets to Penobscot Theatre Company's bonus seventh show, The Full Monty, are now on sale to the general public. Current subscribers and subscribers to the company's upcoming 2017-2018 season may purchase Monty tickets at the specially discounted price of $33 each, $5 off the regular cost. The production will run from June 15 through July 9, and all performances will be at the historic Bangor Opera House in Downtown Bangor.

Twenty-five years ago, a group of college students first performed onstage at Tufts University. In 2017, Guster is celebrating this 25th anniversary with a series of signature events and concerts. Following sold-out shows at the Beacon Theatre in New York City and a four-night run at Boston's Paradise Rock Club, the Guster 25 celebration moves to Portland, Maine in August, with a full weekend of activities, highlighted by an August 12 concert at Thompson's Point.
