Year Round Apprenticeship Available at Penobscot Theatre Company

Penobscot Theatre Company, the nation's most Northeastern year-round professional theatre company, seeks a year round apprentice to assist in production, lighting, carpentry, sound, rigging, costuming, properties, and stage management for the 2013-2014 season.

With hands on training, learn the craft from the ground up! Through collaboration with directors, administrators, designers, teaching artists, and professional production teams, apprentices will gain hands on training and cultivate lasting relationships with other artists. Apprentices should be highly motivated individuals with a desire to learn and accept new challenges. Members of the apprenticeship program become a vital part of the team here at PTC and many have gone on to have successful professional careers in the arts. 2013 apprentice Ethan Schneider says, "I learned many useful carpentry skills and rigging skills. I enjoyed my stay with PTC. The staff quickly embraced me as part of the team and we got along great. They even are helping me locate a job in the arts with their personal contacts that they have from Maine to California."

"I got my start interning at theatres around the country. Those experiences absolutely shaped the career I have and the person I am today. I not only learned every aspect of this business, but I remember those internships with such a degree of personal fondness. I want to make sure Bangor area young people, have the opportunity for those same experiences," remarks PTC Artistic Director, Bari Newport.

One, full-time, ten month position is available for Bangor area based high-school and college graduates with strengths in carpentry, costumes, lighting, stage management. The position includes a weekly stipend of $100. To apply for this apprenticeship please submit a cover letter, resume, and a letter of recommendation. An entrance interview will be required.
