Theatre Day Camp Promises A FUN-FILLED FEBRUARY Vacation

Penobscot Theatre Company is hosting a theatrical day camp for children aged 4-14 during February School Vacation, February 18-22. The camp will feature daily themes with professional teaching artists Dan Hanchrow and Eric Byers, as well as guest instructors from the theatre's technical department and Bangor area artists.

All instructors are actively working in their fields making this a unique opportunity for students to get professional quality instruction, feedback, and fun. Camp days will begin at 9:00 am with structured activities until 4:00 pm.

The daily themes are: Monday: Theater 101 Learn how actors use their bodies to tell a story and explore where live theater comes from! Tuesday: Musical Theater Learn a fun song and dance and explore the history of musical theater! Wednesday: Shakespeare Learn all about stage combat (and swordfights!) while exploring all about the world's most famous playwright! Thursday: Design Day Learn all about how designers bring a play to life! Design your own fantasy character and learn special effects make up! Friday: Fairy Tales Learn all about where fairy tales come from, and participate in a fun short play based on a famous fairy tale! These themes allow the camp to be flexible so children may attend any or all sessions.

Each day will end with a showcase of the work for students' families at 3:30 pm. All activities will be held at Penobscot Theatre Company's new classroom space at 51A Main Street in Bangor. February Vacation Camp costs $50 per day or $225 for the week. Tuition expenses may be eligible for a federal tax credit.
