Start your New Year off with a smile at The Public Theatre's production of the quirky and uplifting Off-Broadway comedy TIGERS BE STILL playing today, Jan 24 - Feb 2. If the idea of facing a new day has ever sent you back to bed, this heart-felt and humorous look at how we survive the tough moments in life and help each other get back in the game is the perfect solution to the winter blues.

The Wickman women are having a bad day. Twenty-four year old Sherry has a Masters degree in Art Therapy - which means she's unemployed and living back at home. Her recently jilted sister is already there, glued to the couch, nursing her broken heart with endless replays of "Top Gun" and a bottle of scotch. Then there is mom, too embarrassed by her recent weight gain to come downstairs, but willing to reach the living room via cell phone

"The great thing about this play", says director and Artistic Director Christopher Schario, "is the way it finds humor in heartbreak and seamlessly combines comedy and drama. It ultimately has a very sweet, and uplifting message about how it is our friends, our family and our connections to each other that get us through the tough moments in life".

Starring in this quirky comedy in the pivotal role of Art Therapist Sherry Wickman, is ANNA O'DONOGHUE. Anna has previously appeared on Broadway in Tom Stoppard's Rock 'n' Roll, directed by Trevor Nunn, and off-Broadway in the critically acclaimed production of Eurydice at Second Stage. Rebecca Hart will play the role of her couch potato sister Grace. Rebecca has appeared in the film Young Adult as well as in many theatres in New York and across the country. Playing the role of Zach, an eighteen year old with anger management issues soon to become Sherry's first Art Therapy client is NOAH WITKE, a recent graduate of the acting program at Juilliard. Playing his father Joesph, will be actor Joseph Tisa. Following the success of this play in New York, the playwright Kim Rosenstock has since become a writer on HBO's GIRL'S. The Public Theatre is a professional Equity theatre, and recent winner of the Best Theatre in Maine award by Down East Magazine. All four New York actors will be making their first appearance at The Public Theatre and look forward to being a part of the cultural life of L/A.

The imaginative set design for Tigers Be Still is by Kit Mayer, lighting by BArt Garvey, and costume design by Joan Mather.

Tigers Be Still will be performed at The Public Theatre, Lewiston/Auburn's Professional Theatre, Jan 24, 25, 26, 30, 31, Feb 1, 2. Performance times are Thurs and Fri at 7:30pm, Sat at 8pm and Sunday at 2pm. An added Sat matinee will be performed on Feb 1 at 2pm. Adults $20, Youth (under 18) $5, Group Rate (10+) $16.
