Registration is open for Penobscot Theatre Company's Eighth Annual Weekend Trip to New York City, April 6-8, 2018, and this year's itinerary is a musical theatre lover's delight! "We've secured great seats to two very differently styled musicals," said Executive Director Mary Budd, "a revival of a beloved classic and a contemporary work with timely themes. Plus, we're throwing in an optional third show for folks who just can't get enough!" All travelers will see:

Rodgers and Hammerstein's Carousel, starring Tony Award winner Jessie Mueller (Beautiful: The Carole King Musical, Waitress) and Grammy-winning opera star Renee Fleming, which tells the story of millworker Julie Jordan, carousel barker Billy Bigelow, and their ultimately destructive relationship. The classic score includes such numbers as "If I Loved You," "June Is Bustin' Out All Over," and "You'll Never Walk Alone."

The Band's Visit celebrates the deeply human ways that music, longing and laughter can connect us all. It takes place in the Israeli desert where an Egyptian Police Band is stranded and eventually-surprisingly-befriended. "It doesn't feel like any musical ever," wrote Jesse Green of New York Magazine. "'Perfect' is the wrong word for such an unusual musical, but it will just have to do." David Yazbek (The Full Monty, Dirty Rotten Scoundrels) wrote the music and lyrics, and the stellar cast includes Tony Shalhoub and John Cariani.

For those who wish to maximize their Broadway consumption, Penobscot Theatre Company is pleased to offer a third show as an optional add-on to this year's package. The company has secured a limited number of prime tickets to Escape to Margaritaville, a musical comedy "getaway" featuring original songs and Jimmy Buffett classics including "Come Monday," "Volcano," "Cheeseburger in Paradise," and many more.

Travelers will enjoy round-trip deluxe motor coach transportation from Bangor; lodging at a boutique hotel in the heart of the theatre district; several meals; and access to behind-the-scenes experiences only Penobscot Theatre Company can provide.

The complete weekend package is available for $1,200 per person based on double-occupancy lodging ($1,350 for a single room, $1,100 for a triple, and $1,000 for a quad). Space is limited.
