POP! Confirms Local Performers for 2013 Fundraising Party, 10/1
POP! (Portland Ovations Presents) is an arts celebration and a silent auction benefit raising money to support Portland Ovations' school- and community-based arts-programs, Ovations Offstage. The party takes place on Tuesday, October 1st at 5:30pm inside The Portland Company Complex at 58 Fore Street, Portland.
This exciting evening transforms the Portland Company into a lively indoor street fair with pop-up music, dance and circus performances by the Peaks Island Ukulele Ensemble, Portland School of Ballet students, an ensemble from 317 Main Street Music Center and Merriconeag Waldorf School Circus Artists. Some of Southern Maine's top restaurants such as David's, The Good Table, The Tavern at Brunswick Station and Dean Sweets to name a few will be supplying savory bites for attendees to sample while they browse incredible silent auction items that include a Chebegue Island getaway, a weekend at Saddleback ski resort, a package to Once in Boston that includes DownEaster train tickets, tickets to see Pippin on Broadway, Red Sox tickets, Portland Ovations ticket packages and much, much more.
This all comes together to support Ovations Offstage, which is an integral part of Portland Ovations, creating those resonating moments when artists and audiences come together. The proceeds from POP! enables Ovations Offstage to offer a School-Time Performance series that connects schools, teachers and students to the performing arts, as well as in-school workshops with artists and artist-educators; Masterclasses and workshops with visiting artists; free pre-performance lectures by local Maine experts prior to most Ovations' presentations; arts happenings around town; study guides and other educational resources for students and educators, available for free through Portland Ovations' website.
