MAMMA MIA! 'FIDDLER' & More Set for Maine State Music Theatre's 2016 Season
Maine State Music Theatre has announced their highly-anticipated 2016 season line up. Next summer the theatre will again present four main stage shows, to which they have obtained exclusive regional rights. Season ticket subscriptions are the best way to ensure seats for all four shows, as MSMT anticipates record-breaking attendance.
The 2016 season fires up on June 8, 2016 with the regional premiere of GHOST: THE MUSCIAL. Adapted from the hit 1990 film, GHOST follows Sam and Molly, a young couple whose connection takes a shocking turn after Sam's untimely death. GHOST will be directed by Marc Robin, director of this year's The Music Man and Young Frankenstein.
In the second slot of the season, MSMT presents EVITA, opening on June 29, 2016. It has been twenty years since the story of Argentina's controversial First Lady, with memorable songs such as "Don't Cry for Me Argentina" and "On this Night of a Thousand Stars" has appeared on the Pickard Stage.
After a 21 year absence and at the height of the summer, July 20, 2016 opens Maine State Music Theatre's production of the iconic FIDDLER ON THE ROOF. Beloved songs such as "Sunrise, Sunset," "If I Were A Rich Man," and "Matchmaker, Matchmaker" make FIDDLER the perfect mix of humor and heart leaving audiences crying tears of sadness, laughter and joy.
Finally, summer 2016 closes out with a bang - as the Broadway sensation MAMMA MIA! takes the stage in Brunswick. MSMT is one of three theatres in the nation with exclusive rights to ABBA's smash-hit musical, fresh off of Broadway. This tale full of sun and fun unfolds on a Greek island paradise when, on the eve of her wedding, a daughter's quest to discover the identity of her father brings three men from her mother's past back to the island they last visited 20 years ago.
