GUTENBERG! THE MUSICAL! to Make Maine Premiere This March

Bud Davenport and Doug Simon have a brand-new show that they have spent months writing. And you're invited to the backer's audition in Portland, Maine.

Cast Aside Productions will be presenting the Maine Premiere of GUTENBERG! THE MUSICAL! at the Portland Ballet Studio Theater. The show, written by Anthony King and Scott Brown, was developed in the revered Upright Citizens Brigade Theater and evolved into a full length musical comedy. It was nominated for several honors in 2007, including the Lucille Lortel Award for Outstanding Musical and the Drama Desk Award for Outstanding Book of a Musical.

GUTENBERG! is a farcical "show within a show" as Bud and Doug present their musical about Johannes Gutenberg to an audience full of very important Broadway producers. This March, they're presenting the complete show to you, starring only Bud, Doug, and a few dozen decorated trucker hats. Will their passion sell the show or will it be a flop?

Celeste! Green directs and choreographs this hilarious historical romp and Rebekkah Willey provides music direction. Kyle Aarons and Ryan Walker take on the passionate, charismatic roles of Bud and Doug, who each play ten different characters in the musical. Willey will also accompany Aarons and Walker onstage as the duo's faithful and long-suffering pianist.
