GILBERT AND SULLIVAN SOCIETY OF MAINE CELEBRATES THE 80th BIRTHDAY OF THE GRAND, IN ELLSWORTH As part of The Grand's birthday celebration, The Gilbert and Sullivan Society of Maine will be putting on Trial by Jury and "A Grand Relationship with GSSME"- featuring numbers from shows they have produced at The Grand.

In 1976, Harris Strong and Elizabeth "Betty" Beatty created the Gilbert & Sullivan Society of Hancock County (GSSHC). With The Grand Auditorium recently having been renovated by a Harris Strong entity, it seemed the perfect union had been formed. This year will mark GSSME's 41st season, and they are still going strong.

As part of The Grand's birthday celebration GSSME will present Trial by Jury- a comic opera in one act. It was first produced on 25 March 1875, at London's Royalty Theatre where it initially ran for 131 performances. A Grand Relationship with GSSME will feature many popular numbers from the works of Gilbert and Sullivan.

This show runs one night only on July 8th at 6pm.
