CARRIE the Musical - The Immersive Experience promises thrills, chills, and spills by the bucketful.

Just in time for Halloween, Some Theatre Company presents, "CARRIE the Musical" based on the novel by much-loved local author, Stephen King. Book by Lawrence D. Cohen, lyrics by Dean Pitchford, and music by Michael Gore, and presented with permission from Rodgers and Hammerstein.

CARRIE, King's fourth novel, but the first to be published began life on a portable typewriter that belonged to his wife Tabitha. Released on April 5, 1974, with an approximate first print-run of 30,000 copies.

CARRIE is set primarily in the then-future year of 1979 and revolves around Carrie White, Chamberlain High Schools outcast misfit. At school, she's bullied by the popular crowd and virtually invisible to everyone else. At home, she's at the mercy of her loving but cruelly over-protective mother. But Carrie's just discovered she's got a special power, and if pushed too far, she's not afraid to use it.

King has commented that he finds the work to be "raw" and "with a surprising power to hurt and horrify."

"CARRIE" the Musical is an immersive experience and from the moment the audience walks into the space, they will be entering Carrie's world. Audience members will be inches away from the action and very much part of the story. Unlike traditional productions, this will be a unique theatre experience unlike anything theatregoers in the area have experienced before.

Coming off their smash hit, Boys Next Door, Some Theatre Company was recently assigned the title of best amateur theatre group in the Greater Bangor Area by local Bangor Daily News theatre critic, Judy Harrison. Run entirely by volunteers on a shoestring budget, this company always provides top-notch entertainment that rivals even the largest companies but comes with very affordable ticket prices. Their team of volunteers is comprised of local theatre professionals who have worked all over the USA. Using their wealth of experience and knowledge, Some Theatre Company truly is a diamond in the rough.

Cast entirely with local actors, this show packs a 1-2 punch with its immense talent pool. Silvia Baxter takes on the iconic role of Carrie; her big vocals are dynamic and when joined by Kari Stowe who plays Margaret, her mother, this duo will entertain the audience, if not terrify them. Other locally acclaimed actors: Roland Dube, Leslie Michaud, Daniel Legere, Nichole Sparlin, Robert Brangwynne, Chad Moores, and Mikayla Burridge, are joined by a spit-fire ensemble comprised of six triple threat actors, to make a powerhouse cast.

Transformed into a musical, CARRIE is an exciting show chock full of action. With electrifying choreography, mesmerizing special FX, Fire, Smoke, and gallons of BLOOD, CARRIE the Musical promises to be a heart-stopping show that will leave you breathless from beginning to end!

Earlier in June, Stephen King provided, and signed, a copy of his novel, CARRIE for Some Theatre Company. Since King is a big supporter of the arts himself, STC wanted to make sure everyone in the area had an opportunity to walk away with the acclaimed signed book. With that in mind, every audience member who attends the show will automatically be entered to win!
