Celebrate Valentine's Day With Shakespeare's Most Intense Lovers at Madison Shakespeare Co

Madison Shakespeare Company announces the upcoming premiere of A Valentine's Affair 2019, directed by Emily Morrison Weeks. The limited run of these love scenes from the works of William Shakespeare spans just three dates: February 12 at Capital Brewery in Middleton, February 13 at The Brink Lounge in Madison, and February 14 at the Bartell Theatre in Madison.

Building on the popularity of the first Valentine's Affair last year, this date-night friendly production runs about one hour. In addition to six scenes from Shakespeare's plays, the production will feature the return of "Sonnets From a Hat," an improv event in which cast members are challenged to perform a randomly selected sonnet, with style and emotion chosen by the audience.

Joining the show this year are lovers Titania and Nick Bottom from A Midsummer Night's Dream, and Henry and Katharine from Henry the Fifth. Returning characters include Ferdinand and Miranda from the Tempest, and Shakespeare's unlikeliest suitor Richard the Third.

The tight ensemble features the talents of Issaka Brellenthin, Isaac Brieske, Jason Compton, Laura Kochanowski, Deanna Martinez, and Christian Stevenson.

Tickets are $15 general admission and $12 for student/senior/service members, available now at madisonshakespeare.org/ava2019rez.
