The Cohen family of Bullitt County, KY have done well to establish themselves among their gentile neighbors, despite being one of its only Jewish families. But when young Asher comes home from school for Pesach determined to convince his family to emancipate the two enslaved people they own, this period drama plays out against the backdrop of the defining event of Jewish faith.
