Go!” to the Tony Award-winning musical sensation, JOSEPH AND THE AMAZING TECHNICOLOR DREAMCOAT, music by Andrew Lloyd Webber and lyrics by Tim Rice.  The musical director & conductor is Jennifer Lin, and the director & choreographer is Gerry McIntyre.  JOSEPH AND THE AMAZING TECHNICOLOR DREAMCOAT will preview on Friday, June 2 at 8 pm & Saturday, June 3 at 2 pm (with a press opening on Saturday, June 3 at 8 pm) and will run through Sunday, June 25, 2023 at La Mirada Theatre for the Performing Arts, 14900 La Mirada Blvd in La Mirada.  

One of the most enduring shows of all time, JOSEPH AND THE AMAZING TECHNICOLOR DREAMCOAT is a tuneful reimagining of the biblical story of Joseph, his father Jacob, 11 brothers, and his coat of many colors.  This sensational musical features Andrew Lloyd Webber songs that have gone on to become pop and musical theatre classics, including “Any Dream Will Do,” “Close Every Door To Me,” “There’s One More Angel in Heaven,” and “Go, Go, Go Joseph.”  The multi-award-winning show has been performed in over 80 countries worldwide and has become one of the world’s most beloved family musicals. 
                              
ABOUT THE CREATIVE TEAM
GERRY McINTYRE (Director & Choreographer) has won widespread acclaim for his most recent choreographic credit: the Berkshire Theatre Group's production of Godspell - sold out, twice-extended, with rave reviews.  He was recently made Associate Artistic Director of The York Theatre.  He made his directing debut at The York with the 2018 Musicals in Mufti presentation of Hallelujah, Baby.  Additional productions as a Director:  Kinky Boots (The Hangar Theatre), Soon of a Mornin’ (Lions Theatre), Once On This Island (Martin Beck Theatre; Virginia Stage; Pioneer Theatre; Actors’ Theatre of Louisville; La Mirada Theatre – Robby Award for Best Director, Ovation nomination for Best Choreography and Best Musical), Ain’t Misbehavin’ (Actors’ Theatre of Louisville; Gateway Playhouse; and Theatre by The Sea), The Cher Show, Jersey Boys, and Chicago (Ogunquit Playhouse), Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat starring Diana DeGarmo and Anthony Federov (Lyric Theatre), and the National Tour of Dreamgirls.  As a Choreographer: Anything Can Happen in The Theatre and Forbidden Broadway: The Next Generation (The York Theatre), Nina Simone: Four Women, Songs for a New World, A Chorus Line, White Christmas, Side by Side, The Who’s Tommy, and My Fair Lady (Berkshire Theatre Festival), A Saint She Ain’t (Westport Playhouse), The Color Purple, Cinderella, Ragtime, and The Wiz (Broadway Sacramento), Priscilla (Gateway Playhouse), “After the Storm” documentary.  Gerry is the choreographer of the hit Off-Broadway show Spamilton (Ovation nomination and Joe A. Callaway Award nomination).  As a performer: the original company of Once on This Island, Anything Goes with Patti Lupone, and one of the three Americans cast in the film Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat with Donny Osmond. 
JENNIFER LIN (Musical Director and Conductor) works as a music director, accompanist, and teacher throughout Southern California and is the resident music director for Color and Light Theatre Ensemble.  Recent productions include On This Side of the World (East West Players), Brigadoon (Musical Theatre Guild), Spring Awakening (USC School of Dramatic Arts), Matilda (at both 5-Star Theatricals and La Mirada Theatre with McCoy Rigby Entertainment), The Last Five Years (After Hours Theatre - Ovation Nominee for Musical Direction), XY (NAMT Festival of New Musicals), LIZZIE (at both Cal State Fullerton and Color and Light Theatre Ensemble), and Priscilla: Queen of the Desert (Celebration Theatre – Ovation Nominee for Musical Direction, Ovation Winner for Best Intimate Theatre). 
 

ANDREW LLOYD WEBBER (Music) is the composer of some of the world’s best-known musicals including CATS, Evita, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Jesus Christ Superstar, The Phantom of the Opera and Sunset Boulevard.  When Sunset Boulevard joined 
School of Rock -The Musical, CATS, and The Phantom of the Opera on Broadway in February 2017 he became the only person to equal the record set in 1953 by Rodgers and Hammerstein with four shows running concurrently.  As well as The Phantom of The Opera and CATS, his productions include the groundbreaking Bombay Dreams, which introduced the double Oscar-winning Bollywood composer AR Rahman to the Western stage.  As a composer and producer, Lloyd Webber is one of an elite group of artists to have achieved EGOT status by receiving an Emmy, four Grammys including Best Contemporary Classical Composition for Requiem, his setting of the Latin Requiem mass, an Oscar and eight Tony Awards, including the 2018 Special Tony for Lifetime Achievement in the Theatre. He has won seven Oliviers and a Golden Globe, and his honors include the Praemium Imperiale, the Richard Rodgers Award for Excellence in Musical Theatre, a BASCA Fellowship, and the Kennedy Center Honor.  He was knighted by Her Majesty The Queen in 1992 and created an honorary life peer in 1997.  To mark his 70th birthday, his bestselling autobiography Unmasked was published by HarperCollins in March 2018.

TIM RICE (Lyrics) has worked in music, theatre, and films since 1965 when he met Andrew Lloyd Webber, a fellow struggling songwriter.  Their first collaboration was an unsuccessful show based on the life of Dr. Barnardo, the Victorian philanthropist, The Likes of Us.  Their next three works together were much more successful: Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Jesus Christ Superstar, and Evita.  Tim Rice has since worked with other distinguished popular composers such as Elton John (The Lion King, Aida), Alan Menken (Aladdin, King David, Beauty and the Beast), Bjorn Ulvaeus and Benny Andersson (Chess), and most recently, Stuart Brayson (From Here to Eternity).  A new production of From Here to Eternity made its début at the Finger Lakes Musical Theatre, New York, in June 2016, and played in the Fall of 2017 at the Ogunquit Playhouse in Maine.  In December 2016 selections from the score were performed at three official events to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the attack on Pearl Harbor.  Further U.S. productions are in the works.

In March 2017, two films with new Tim Rice material were released: Disney’s fresh interpretation of Beauty and the Beast, features three new songs written with Alan Menken, and the latest Roger Goldby film, Time of Their Lives, starring Joan Collins and Pauline Collins, features “Morty and Me,” a song written with Pete Hobbs, sung by Sophie Ellis-Bextor.  He formed his own cricket team in 1973 and was President of MCC in 2002. He is a regular broadcaster/presenter on BBC Radio 2, drawing on his extensive knowledge of the history of popular music since Elvis was a lad.  In 2018, he became one of only 15 people to reach EGOT status, when the NBC production of “Jesus Christ Superstar Live in Concert” won an Emmy for Outstanding Variety Special.

The Design Team for JOSEPH AND THE AMAZING TECHNICOLOR DREAMCOAT is as follows: Set and Props provided by 3-D Theatricals; Lighting Design by Jean-Yves Tessier; Sound Design by Josh Bessom; Costumes by Ryan Moller provided by Tuacahn Costume Rentals; Costume Coordinator, Adam Ramirez; Co-Hair/Wig/Make-up Design by Kaitlin Yagen and Madison Medrano; Properties Supervisor Kevin Williams.  The Casting Director is Julia Flores.  The Production Stage Manager is John W. Calder III.

ABOUT THE SCHEDULE AND PRICING

JOSEPH AND THE AMAZING TECHNICOLOR DREAMCOAT will preview on Friday, June 2 at 8 pm & Saturday, June 3 at 2 pm (with a press opening on Saturday, June 3 at 8 pm) and will run through Sunday, June 25, 2023 at La Mirada Theatre for the Performing Arts, 14900 La Mirada Blvd in La Mirada.  

Performances are Thursdays at 7:30 pm; Fridays at 8 pm; Saturdays at 2 pm & 8 pm and Sundays at 1:30 pm & 6:30 pm.  There is no performance on Sunday, June 4 at 
6:30 pm.    

There will be an Open-Captioned performance on Saturday, June 17 at 2 pm.  Talkbacks with the cast and creative team will be on Thursday, June 8 at 7:30 pm and Thursday, June 22 at 7:30 pm.
