Highways Performance Space will present the World Premiere of blue13 dance company's BOLLYWOOD DELICIOUS just in time for Valentine's Day Weekend. Grab your honey and get a taste of blue13's wild side in its return to the Highways stage. Director Achinta S. McDaniel delivers another naughty dance theatre show of contemporary Bollywood dance, ripe with lip-smacking, lip-synching parody presented in blue13's signature Bollywood-Tech style on Friday and Saturday, February 13 and 14, 2009 at 8:30 p.m., and on Sunday, February 15, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. at Highways Performance Space at the 18th Street Arts Center; 1651 18th Street; Santa Monica, CA 90404.

McDaniel said: "Our new show, BOLLYWOOD DELICIOUS, is a burlesque take on the typical Bollywood show, featuring satirical tongue-in-cheek premieres, restaged audience favorites and new works by assistant choreographers Kory Keith, Arun Mathai and Rashi Birla. This show is not appropriate for young children." Tickets are $20 each for General Admission, and $15 each for Students, Older Children and Dance Resource Center Members. Production personnel will include: Achinta S. McDaniel, Artistic Director/Choreographer; Arun Mathai, Assistant Choreographer; Musical Supervisor, Tej Gill.

blue13 dance company (blue13) has performed for sold out audiences all over Los Angeles, the U.S. and abroad, most recently premiering it's critically acclaimed KHEL! A Bollywood Bedtime Story at the Ford Amphitheatre in 2008, and subsequently touring the new show, FEZ - Queen of Cities to sold out audiences in Los Angeles, New York, Morocco and Paris. Since 1999, blue13 has performed nationally, both onstage and on screen, in a variety of genres, including McDaniel's signature Bollywood-Tech and Neo-Kathak styles, as well as in contemporary, ballet, jazz, hip-hop, fire dance, aerial arts and more. Bollywood-Tech is contemporary dance theatre rooted in the traditions and inspirations of Indian dance, music and culture. blue13's performance style introduces audiences to this new genre of work by experimenting with international dance techniques to create contemporary dance theatre fueled by storytelling, a multi-ethnic cast and multi-genre influences.

Achinta S. McDaniel (Artistic Director, Choreographer and Dancer) is a pioneer of mixed genre contemporary dance in the United States, working as a leading choreographer both on stage and on camera throughout the nation for over 10 years. In 1999, she founded blue13 dance company, and has since enjoyed great success in creating live, critically acclaimed dance productions internationally in her signature styles, Neo-Kathak and Bollywood-Tech. She is known for her experimentation with a wide variety of multi-ethnic, multi-genre movement styles, fueled by a commitment to athletic and fluid contemporary dance theatre. A prolific choreographer, performer, and instructor, McDaniel's powerful style encompasses techniques from ballet, modern dance, jazz, tap, and hip-hop, to Bollywood, Bhangra, African, Moroccan, and classical Indian Kathak. McDaniel is a 2008 Horton Dance Award nominee in the choreography - long form category for her contemporary epic "Six.Fifteen and Everything Senseless."

Dance education is central to blue13's long-term community goals. Under the umbrella of blue13, Artistic Director Achinta S. McDaniel created The Blue School in 2003, continuing, with her dancers, to teach Indian dance forms to children and adults in the Los Angeles area. Highways Performance Space is Southern California's boldest center for new performance. In its nineteenth year, Highways, is under the Artistic Direction of
