bare A Rock Opera Returns To LA For Two Night Workshop, 10/2, 10/3

By: Sep. 04, 2009

bare will return to Los Angeles for two nights in a staged concert workshop of the material the first weekend of October, produced by NightGlory Productions in association with the Art|Works Theatre. bare features book and music by Damon Intrabartolo, and book and lyrics by Jon Hartmere, Jr.

bare is a contemporary rock musical that focuses on the coming-of-age of five high school seniors at a Catholic boarding school. As the students struggle to find their identity, they strive to define themselves in terms of their sexuality, religion and relationships.

With a pulsing rock score at its center, bare follows the secret love affair between Peter and Jason, two high school dorm mates, and the sensual persistence of the popular Ivy, who aggressively pursues her attraction to Jason.

The award-winning musical premiered in Hollywood in October 2000. Returning to the Los Angeles area nine years later, its themes of acceptance, tolerance and equality are increasingly relevant today. Part of the proceeds from this workshop will be donated to benefit the NOH8 campaign.

Featured in this production of bare are Cambria Beilstein, Hannah Bornstein, Patrick Burns, Rob Cameron, Maureen Chesus, Julian Clark, Nathan Crocker, Ryan Farnsworth, Laura Hartley, Alissa-Nicole Koblentz, Garrett Mendez, Alexandria Parker, Topher Rhys, Tyler Seiple and Aysha Wax. bare is musically directed by Rachel Howe.

Performances will be held on October 2nd and 3rd at 8pm at the Art|Works Theatre located at 6585 Santa Monica Boulevard Hollywood, CA 90038. Tickets are $20 and can be purchased here.  http://www.brownpapertickets.com/event/79746
