Wondery, A Network Of Storytellers, announced today the launch of WAIT WAIT DON'T KILL ME, the first-ever musical produced as a serialized podcast.

Written by Dave Holstein (Weeds, Showtime's upcoming I'm Dying Up Here), with music and lyrics by Alan Schmuckler (the upcoming Diary of a Wimpy Kid musical), WAIT WAIT DON'T KILL ME is a darkly comedic five-part musical satire that follows Serial host Sarah Koenig as she investigates the 1999 murder of high school student Hae Min Lee and explores the controversial thesis: What if Sarah did it?

In 1998, a young Sarah Koenig (Leslie Kritzer, Broadway's Something Rotten) works as a struggling beat reporter for the Baltimore Sun. She desperately needs a scoop or she's out of a job. Just a few miles down the road, honor student Hae Min Lee (Renée Albulario, David Byrne's Here Lies Love) celebrates her prom night with Adnan Syed (Zachary Infante, Julie Taymor's A Midsummer Night's Dream), her prom prince boyfriend. When Sarah's and Hae's paths unexpectedly cross, the voices in Sarah's head suggest this poor girl's salacious murder could solve all her problems.

Fifteen years later, when Ira Glass (Jessie Cannizzaro) suggests Sarah turn the story of Hae's murder into an engrossing podcast, Sarah is suddenly forced to re-examine old evidence and try to solve a murder she quite possibly committed. Soon Ira begins to suspect Sarah's involvement in Hae's death, setting them on a collision course that results in the nail-biting, Peabody-worthy drama only public radio can achieve.

Moving seamlessly between the 1998 timeline of the murder and the present day investigation, WAIT WAIT DON'T KILL ME shines new, musical light on the making of America's biggest podcast and, unlike season one of Serial, answers all of your burning questions.

The first of five episodes are available today, November 15th, on Secrets, Crimes & Audiotape, an audio drama told week after week, by Wondery. Subscribe to it on iTunes, Stitcher, Wondery.com, or wherever you listen to podcasts.
