Weddington Street Productions proudly presents ON THE FRITZ - An Evening With Fritz Coleman starring NBC4's multiple Emmy Award winning Weatherman Fritz Coleman, August 19, 20, 21 & 22 at the historic El Portal Theatre Mainstage in the NOHO Arts District.

ON THE FRITZ is an inside look at LA weather, lifestyle, and television news told by the wittiest broadcaster on the West Coast. The affable honorary Mayor of Toluca Lake will make you laugh with his acerbic stand-up comedy and answer all of your questions from the audience about the news business, the weather, a certain late night talk show on NBC, and anything and everything under the California sun in a laugh-filled look at life in the public eye.

Fritz Coleman is NBC4's weathercaster on the weekday editions of "Channel 4 News," airing at 5, 6 and 11PM. A Southern California broadcasting icon, Coleman is well known for his sense of humor and extensive knowledge of weather. He joined NBC4 in February 1982, as the weekend weathercaster, and moved up to weekdays in June of 1984. In addition Fritz broadcasts the weather nightly for the NBC station in San Diego and the North County.

ON THE FRITZ - An Evening With Fritz Coleman is an insider's look at a typical local newscast, a rollercoaster ride between funny and poignant.

A long-time stand-up comic, Coleman has performed at The Improvisation, The Ice House and other Southern California Comedy Clubs. He has utilized his humor in a number of series and specials that have aired on NBC4 over the years including "What a Week", "It's Fritz", "Fritz and Friends", and "The Perils of Parenting". He received four Los Angeles area Emmy Awards for his work on the NBC4 comedy specials and series.

Coleman has written, produced and starred in three one-man plays. In addition to ON THE FRITZ- An Evening With Fritz Coleman, his first production "It's Me! Dad!" won the coveted 1997 Artistic Directors Award. A humorous and touching account of what happens when a "baby boomer" tries to recount his own life for his young children, the play shows how the father comes to grips with the passage of time and the skeletons in his own closet. The production also aired successfully on public television in Los Angeles. "The Reception," Coleman's second play, is an insightful and hilarious look at relationships found at an imaginary wedding reception - the bride's second marriage -- the groom's third.

Coleman was named "Best Weatherman" in nearly every major paper in Southern California, including the Orange County Register, the San Bernardino Sun, and four times in the Los Angeles Daily News.

El Portal Theatre is a historic landmark in the San Fernando Valley located in the heart of North Hollywood just minutes from Universal Studios, Warner Brothers, Disney, ABC, CBS-Radford and NBC Burbank. The theatre, originally built as a vaudeville house in 1926, sits across Lankershim Blvd from the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences and the Art Institute of California-Hollywood.

Since its opening in 1926 -- first for Vaudeville, then Silent Movies, and then Academy Award-winning films -- as the primo movie house in the valley, the theatre has weathered the Jazz Age, the Depression, 4 wars, and finally the great earthquake of 1994. The lobbies boast luscious carpeting secured in 2004 from the now demised Los Angeles Shubert Theatre.

Rebuilt in the late 90's and opened in January of 2000, the once 1400-seat movie palace now houses three theatres -- the 42-seat Studio Theatre (the permanent home of Stuart Roger's Theatre Tribe), the 95-seat Forum, and the 360-seat Main Stage -- along with the Judith Kaufman Art Gallery, featuring many of Los Angeles visual artists.
