WHITE CHRISTMAS Closes at Walnut Creek 12/4
Diablo Theatre Company announced today that it has been granted the rights to produce the Broadway musical "Irving Berlin's White Christmas" in time for the holiday season.
The company will stage the show in an East Bay premiere in concert, with full orchestra and cast, in the Lesher Center for the Arts from Nov. 26 through Dec. 4.
The musical premiered in San Francisco in 2004 before opening on Broadway and later touring key venues across the country. It is based on the 1954 Paramount Pictures movie that starred Bing Crosby, Danny Kaye, Rosemary Clooney and Vera-Ellen,
Diablo Theatre Company is one of a comparatively few regional theatre companies permitted to produce the show, according to Daren A. C. Carollo, artistic director.
Besides the title song, the show includes such classic Berlin hits as "Blue Skies," "Count Your Blessings Instead of Sheep," "I Love a Piano" and "I've Got My Love to Keep Me Warm."
The New York Post described the show as "a holiday card come to life."
