USC School of Dramatic Arts Presents Mashirika Creative's 'AFRICA'S HOPE' and More, 9/19-21

By:

The school year may have just begun, but the USC School of Dramatic Arts is already tackling tough issues with the very first American performance of "Africa's Hope: A Story of Survival and Hope," featuring the Mashirika Creative and Performing Arts Group. Taking place Wednesday, September 19 at 7:00pm, this performance exemplifies what the USC School of Dramatic Arts teaches through their Applied Theatre Arts programs-the theory and practice of applying theatre skills as supplemental tools for therapists, cultural field workers and activists.

Presented by USC Visions and Voices: The Arts and Humanities Initiative and organized by the USC School of Dramatic Arts, the following is a schedule of events revolving around Mashirika and applied theatre arts. These events are free to the public, but reservations are required online.

About the USC School of Dramatic Arts: The USC School of Dramatic Arts is an internationally renowned program committed first and foremost to the primacy of the artist in theatre, as well as in the mediated forms of dramatic expression such as film and television. Building upon the philosophy that societies are informed and defined by the stories they tell, the USC School of Dramatic Arts trains the actors, writers and designers who will create and perform these stories. The School offers artistic training in a conservatory environment with outstanding faculty and the full academic experience found only within a major research university.
