The Theatre @ Boston Court and Critical Mass Performance Group present "Alcestis," a World Premiere adaptation of Euripides' "Alcestis" written and directed by Nancy Keystone, created in collaboration with Critical Mass. The play opens tonight, June 29 on the Main Stage at Boston Court Performing Arts Center, 70 North Mentor Avenue.

Nancy Keystone's "Alcestis" is a visceral exploration of the life-and-death struggle of a woman who volunteers to die to save her husband's life, and the deals people make the with the gods to avert the death decree. Hilarious, heartbreaking, highly stylized and physical as only Keystone and Critical Mass can be, this piece freshly investigates the nature of sacrifice, death, and the overpowering will to live.

"Alcestis" features Russell Edge, Ray Ford, Lorne Greene, Danielle Jones, Nick Santoro, Jeremy Shranko, Valerie Spencer and Kalean Ung.

Production staff for "Alcestis" includes Keystone, writer/director/scenic design; Adam Frank, lighting design; Randy Tico, sound design; Sarah Brown, costume design; Jenny Smith, prop design; Emilie Beck, dramaturg; Turner Munch, assistant director; Nick Santiago, assistant scenic design; Raul Staggs, casting director; Casey McGann, stage manager.

"Alcestis" opens tonight, June 29 and runs Thursdays through Saturdays at 8 p.m. and Sundays at 2 p.m. through July 28. Preview tickets are priced at $17 and regular performances at $34. Senior, student and group discounts are also available. Tickets can be purchased online atbostoncourt.org or by calling (626) 683-6883.
