The Group Rep is entering its 43rd year of continuous operation and proudly announces its newest Season containing an exciting collection of original and classic theatrical offerings. These will explore the reasons people do the things they do and offer the audience a portal into the motives that drive a fascinating array of complicated human beings.

The Group Rep opened its 43rd Season with Phil Olson's well-received world premiere comedy, A Nice Family Christmas, with Guest Artist Broadway veteran, Marcia Rodd; running now through December 18, at the Lonny Chapman Theatre in North Hollywood, California.

The Season continues with Agatha Christie's New York Critic's Circle Award -Winning play, Witness for the Prosecution, directed by Jules Aaron and featuring Guest Artist Salome Jens (January 27 - March 12). Next up is Brent Beerman's world premiere dramatic comedy, A Dull Pain Turned Sharp, directed by Kay Cole (April 7 - May 21); followed by mystery-thriller Dial "M" for Murder written by Frederick Knott, directed by Bruce Kimmel (June 16 - July 30); end of summer brings Neil Simon's touching coming-of-age comedy Lost in Yonkers, directed by Larry Eisenberg (August 25 - October 8); and finishes with Shakespeare's treasured comedy, A Midsummer Night's Dream, directed by Marc Singer (November 17 - December 31, 2017).

For the past 43 years, the Group Rep has produced well over 300 plays including more than 60 World Premieres. The company boasts more than 80 active company members, some with long-standing, notable professional careers and some in the process of building their craft and reputations. The Acting Company began May 1973, with a rag-tag group of 11 actors performing scenes for audiences in a laundromat-turned 36 seat theatre on Van Ness Blvd. When Lonny Chapman first entered that theatre, the match was perfect and The Group Rep was born with Chapman at the helm. In 1999, Lonny was honored when the current theatre's name officially became the "Lonny Chapman Theatre". The partnership continued until Lonny's passing in 2007.

In addition to mounting productions, The Group Rep gives back to the community with its Annual At-Risk Childrens' Holiday Party and a new program that donates free tickets to various Veterans' Groups. Also, its Participating Actor and Technical Associates (PATA) program provides internship opportunities for aspiring theatre artists. Past graduates include such notables as Sean Penn and Jennifer Tilly.

From 2009 - 2010, Ernest Figueroa, producer for the Broad Stage, came on board as Artistic Director, and brought needed creative and organizational changes. In April of 2010, Figueroa passed the torch to longtime members Larry Eisenberg and Chris Winfield who now serve as Co-Artistic Directors. They continue to take The Group Rep to even greater heights and fulfill the vision of Lonny Chapman: First, to entertain, then to illuminate the human condition - and never be boring.

The subscription cost is $80 for the six plays, a savings of $70.

Single general admission tickets are available for $25 each. Seniors/Students: $20 with ID. Pre-Paid Parties of 10+: $15 per ticket.
